What Is the LOCTITE® DRI 2250-W™ Coating for Threaded Fasteners?

LOCTITE® DRI 2250-W™ is a medium- to high-strength, pre-applied threadlocking coating designed to help prevent threaded fasteners from loosening while also providing thread sealing after curing. The two-component acrylic coating is based on methacrylate ester technology and is designed to adhere to a variety of fastener finishes.

The dry-to-the-touch coating remains inert until assembly. During installation, microcapsules within the coating are crushed, releasing an active ingredient that initiates the anaerobic curing process. This creates a reliable locking and sealing solution for threaded assemblies.

LOCTITE® DRI 2250-W™ is particularly well suited for automotive and high-volume manufacturing applications where threaded components need to arrive ready for immediate assembly and applying a liquid threadlocker during production may not be practical.

Key Benefits

  • Medium- to high-strength threadlocking to help prevent fastener loosening
  • Pre-applied, dry-to-the-touch coating for ready-to-use threaded components
  • Acts as a thread sealant after curing
  • Good adhesion to a variety of fastener finishes
  • Suitable for plain and passivated metal surfaces
  • Good hot-strength and heat-aging performance
  • Heat-aging capabilities up to 220°C
  • Good chemical and solvent resistance
  • Designed to meet automotive specification requirements
  • Flow-coatable formulation for efficient application
  • Can be diluted with DI/RO water to adjust viscosity for processing
  • Suitable for high-volume manufacturing environments
  • On-part life of 1 to 4 years, depending on storage conditions
LOCTITE DRI 2250-W uses microencapsulated technology that activates during assembly, allowing coated fasteners to remain ready for use until the threaded connection is assembled.
Coating prevents loosening through vibration to provide locking and sealing of threaded parts.
